It's easy in the hectic day to day of practice, for interactions with your team and fellow partners to become transactional. It's all about getting the work done, getting it to the client. Meeting deadlines, staying efficient.
But somewhere in that, the human connection can get lost. You tend to notice this when you start having people problems. By then, the relationship isn't what it could have been.
Thinking back over the last week: how many of your interactions were purely transactional? And how much time did you actually spend building the relationship itself - a proper check-in, not just a status update?
We talk a lot about client experience, client centricity. It's worth asking the same question of leading a team. What's it actually like to work with you?
Reflecting on this is useful. But it only tells half the story. The other half comes from honest feedback - from the people who work with you directly.
